MB_gen3_allsidesIn the past 1.5 months, we have been incredibly busy with the production of the first GEN 3 version, as well as collecting feedback to improve our software and expand our team while being on the road.

GEN 3 Production Update

In our previous updates in May and July 2023, we communicated that you will receive your products after the summer holidays. We're super excited to show you the first production model of the GEN 3.

In August, our partner and factory created a golden sample that has been approved. Our sourcing manager is finalizing the colours for the GEN 3. We are working on a stylish matte oakwood colour instead of dark black for the exterior of the machine.  Additionally, we are investigating whether to add texture to the handgrip and keg knob or to make the bottom and top mash plate yellow since they require cleaning. Please note that all products with a yellow colour require cleaning.

GEN 3 Production Planning

As communicated earlier, in August, our factory successfully produced a test unit, a crucial step in our production process. This test unit was intended for comprehensive testing across all assembly stations and to ensure that our certifications are up-to-date before we proceed with Pilot Production.

However, we must now address an unexpected challenge that has temporarily disrupted our production timeline.

Since our partnership began in 2017, MiniBrew has achieved significant milestones, from early prototypes to the successful development of GEN 1 and GEN 2. Over the years, we have accumulated a substantial inventory of parts at the Sundairy Facility in Fuyong Shenzhen, where the factory operates.

Sundairy Factory old location

Over the last few years,  we've witnessed the rapid transformation of Shenzhen, with many factories being relocated out of the city. Notably, the area around the Simatelex factory, our long-term partner, has experienced substantial infrastructure improvements, attracting more residents and the construction of a new subway station. As a result, the local government, who owns the land, has requested the return of the property to develop residential towers.

Our factory, with its extensive experience and expertise, promptly informed us of this situation last week and has taken immediate action.  Last week  (13 September), we received an update that they relocated our assembly line, inventory, and testing station to another facility they own in Shenzhen. It’s incredible to witness how fast they shift gears. This complex operation is estimated to take between 1 to 2 months to complete. Consequently, our revised production plan will resume on end of October / beginning November, which represents a two-month delay from our initial schedule. Our manufacturing team is working extensively with the local team to see where we can win time.

Update Production Planning

The Pilot Production phase, originally slated for October, will now commence in December. In light of these developments, we have adjusted our production quantities to ensure that more of our valued customers will receive their units before the year's end. W

We understand the importance of timely delivery, and we are committed to minimising any inconvenience this delay may cause. Rest assured, our factory has successfully undertaken similar transitions in the past, and their experience and expertise give us full confidence in the smooth execution of this move. All GEN 3 buyers have been informed by email on September 15, 2023.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we navigate this unforeseen challenge together. Your satisfaction remains our top priority, and we will keep you updated on our progress every step of the way

New Brewing styles coming!

Our production partners in the Netherlands have been replenishing brewpacks. We are thrilled to announce the return of the the Wingman Robin from Bird Brewery, as well as Sputnik and Bonfire. All of their brew packs offer fantastic recipes to brew from October and onwards.

In the meantime, Rolf has been brewing new recipes. The Ginger Cookie has been approved. It's a Dark Belgian Double. Here are a couple of pictures of the result and where it's tested. We can soon release the brand behind this.

Expanded Support And Repair Team

We are thrilled to share that we have signed a contract with one of our users (Richard S.) who is a superstar in the field of engineering. He will start to improve the small amount of repairs we're getting back from mid October. On top of that, we have extended our technical support team with another super user (Džiugas). He is super enthusiastic to start helping you out with brewing and technical questions.

On the road - @IFA Berlin

In the first week of September, Rolf and Bart presented MiniBrew at the Global Electronics Show in Berlin. The event was a massive success, with Bart winning the pitch battle in the Home Electronics category. MiniBrew also received great interest from many retailers across Europe and beyond. Another great thing, meeting  Minibrew users who are brewing with MiniBrew or waiting on the next GEN 3.  One of users is actually brewing in RV while working remote. We hope to share his story in separate blog post at some point.

Next update

In the next update, (planned for October) we will share more information about the progress of GEN 3, and other plans. Thanks again for your patience. Please share any feedback/thoughts in the comments. Thank you as always, and happy MiniBrewing!
